RON JUDE: “THINKING BEYOND THE PORTFOLIO: ACTIVATING PHOTOGRAPHS THROUGH CONTEXT”
AUGUST 25-29, 2025, FOTOFILMIC SPACE, BOWEN ISLAND, BC

Participants in this workshop will be encouraged to think of the context in which their photographs are seen as a creative consideration nearly as important as the images themselves. We will look at and discuss a range of possibilities for the presentation and activation of photographs, from the sequential structures of books to gallery installations to the inclusion of other media with your photographs such as sound, video, or sculptural elements.

Our working premise will be that less-is-often-more, and that “context” can be thought of as something as simple as effectively sequencing your images, or as elaborate as mixed-media installations. It is assumed that the work of each participant will be far enough along in development that conversations of this nature will be relevant and useful.

This program is limited to 12 participants.
